WORKSHOPS

Breakout workshops are designed to be an interactive experience where you will have a chance to ask questions, share what you know, and apply content to your specific context. They last a total of 2.5 hours and are broken up into a morning session and afternoon session. When you register, you will choose one of these four breakout workshops to attend.

  • When Roles Change

Meeting the needs of aging parents

Roles change as parents age, and it can be difficult to take on the role of caretaker for someone who used to take care of you. This workshop will help you embrace this role as a calling from God, and it will provide you with a framework to be a blessing for your aging parents.

Mark Hayes, President of Ministry at The Lutheran Home Association in Belle Plaine, Minnesota

  • Shifting Evanglism Strategies

    From Corporate to personal outreach

For decades, churches invested in corporate outreach because it worked. But now in this post-Christian culture, a massive shift is required. This workshop will provide an overview of the cultural changes that require this shift in strategy, and participants will navigate Biblical truths that encourage and equip them to be personal witnesses.

Eric Roecker, pastor, Director of WELS Commission on Evangelism

  • Christian Worship 2021

What will my congregation really need?

With its broad spectrum of digital and printable resources, Christian Worship 2021 will be game a changer for many congregations. What exactly does it offer, how do the resources work together, and what should your church be doing right now to prepare for this investment? This workshop will give you the information you need to help your church make the most of this valuable new resource.

Joel Gawrisch, pastor at New Life in Shoreview, Minnesota; member of district worship committee

Mike Marquardt, teacher at St. Croix Lutheran Academy in St. Paul, Minnesota; member of district worship committee

  • DISCOVERING JOY IN SELF-CARE

    GOOD MOTIVATION FOR GOOD HEALTH

The acronym “JOY” is a reminder of what your personal priorities should be: Jesus, Others, then Yourself. While focusing on yourself too much can be selfish or idolatrous, neglecting yourself is not what God wants either. Self-care with the right motivation glorifies God and better equips you to serve others. This workshop will help you explore the biblical principles and practical implications behind JOYfull self-care.

Matt Hennig, pastor at Christ in North St Paul & Hugo, Minnesota

Matt Ewart, pastor at NorthCross in Lakeville, Minnesota
